This Privacy Policy is effective as of April 7, 2020.

Carina (“Carina,” “our,” “we” or “us”) respects your individual privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to information that Carina collects, uses, stores, processes, or discloses on or though and the other websites, applications and digital services on or to which this Privacy Policy is linked or referenced (collectively, the “Site”).  This Privacy Policy does not apply to sites or services that do not display or link to this Privacy Policy.

If you directly disclose information about you that can be used to identify or contact you, such as your email address, name, address, telephone number, and care requirements (“Personal Information”) through public posts or through direct messages on the Site, your Personal Information may be collected and used by others. In addition, if you access a third party website from a link or search tool on the Site, or when you access the Site from a link on a third party website, any information you reveal on that website is not subject to this Privacy Policy. You should consult the privacy policies of each website you visit.

Information Collection and Use

Carina collects information on the Site and uses it in multiple ways, which are discussed in more detail below.

A. Personal Information.

Carina collects and uses Personal Information to run the Site and deliver the services you request.

We require the submission of a working email address for you to register to use the Site or receive notices about the Site. In certain cases, we may ask for other personal identifiers such as name, address, telephone number, student ID number, and date of birth. We use the Personal Information that you provide through registration to deliver relevant content and respond to questions from you and/or inform you of material changes to this Privacy Policy. We may also use Personal Information to send you email with special promotions or newsletters with content that we think may be of interest to you. You can opt-out of receiving email newsletters by clicking unsubscribe at the bottom of an email.

Carina will collect other Personal Information that you voluntarily provide to us when you choose to register for and use some of the Carina services. This may include, but is not limited to, specific information regarding your care needs, medical conditions, health, lifestyle, diet, and other relevant Personal Information relating to care. We may also collect Personal Information that you provide voluntarily through responses to surveys and questionnaires.

B. Automatically Collected Information

We collect device information (such as domain name and IP address) from all visitors to the Site (“Automatically Collected Information”). This information is only used for internal purposes to help us improve your user experience, including generating statistical reports about the use of the Site.

We collect log files, either directly or through third party analytics providers such as Google Analytics, Facebook, and Hubspot.  Information in log files may include, but is not limited to, internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Site, track a customer’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. A profile is stored information detailing how individual customers use the Site.

As an example, Carina may use “cookies” and/or “web beacons” to collect non-personal information about your use of the Site or emails we send you. Cookies are small computer files that are placed on your computer’s hard drive that allow us to know how often someone visits a website and the activities they conduct while on that website. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Internet browser software generally can be set to reject all cookies. Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject cookies. If you reject our cookie, certain functions and conveniences of the Site may not work properly. Web beacons are tiny graphic image files embedded in a web page or email that provide a presence on the web page or email and send back to its home server information from the user’s browser. The information collected by cookies and web beacons allows us to statistically monitor how many people are using the Site or opening our emails. We do not control the use of cookies or web beacons by third parties.

We collect data about the location of the computer or device that you use to access the Site (“Location Data”) using IP address, GPS, cellular towers and other information from your mobile service provider, Bluetooth address, Wi-Fi access points and information made available by you or others that indicates the current or prior location of the user, such as geotag information in photographs.  How we collect Location Data depends on how you access the Site.  The Site may collect Location Data even when you are not actively using the Sites.  If you do not want us to collect Location Data from your mobile device, please turn off the location settings.

C. Third Party Analytics Services

Google Analytics uses cookies and pixels in order to collect demographic and interest-level information and usage information from users that visit the Site, including but not limited to information about the pages where users enter and exit the Site and what pages users view on the Site, time spent, browser, operating system, and IP address. Cookies and pixels allow Google to recognize a user when a user visits the Site and when the user visits other websites. Google uses the information it collects from the Site and other websites to share with us and other website operators information about users including, but not limited to, age range, gender, geographic regions, general interests, and details about devices used to visit websites and purchase items. Carina does not link information Carina receives from Google with any of your Personal Information, or user data.  For more information regarding Google’s use of cookies, pixels, and collection and use of information, please review Google’s privacy policy. If you would like to opt out of Google Analytics tracking, please visit the following link: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on

We use Hubspot to manage information collected via forms on our website and to manage some of our marketing initiatives, including managing our email communications with users. Some Personal Information (like email addresses) may be stored with them. Hubspot uses cookies or similar technologies that allow us to track the actions of users of the Site and analyze your use of the Site and marketing campaigns. Information collected may include but is not limited to how many email recipients open a message, forward a message, click on links within a message, and to track your usage of the linked websites. This information is only used for internal purposes to help us improve the Site and user experience, including generating statistical reports about the use of the Site and marketing campaigns.  Hubspot may aggregate this information and provide it to us in reports.  For more information regarding Hubspot’s use of cookies and use of information, please review Hubspot’s privacy policy:

Facebook uses cookies and pixels or similar technologies that allow us to track the actions of users of the Site across devices.  Cookies and pixels allow Facebook to recognize a user when a user visits the Site and when the user visits other websites.  Facebook uses the information it collects from the Site and other websites to share with us and other website operators information about users including but not limited to, details about devices used to visit websites and obtain services. Carina does not link information Carina receives from Facebook with any of your personally identifiable information, or user data.  For more information regarding Facebook’s use of cookies, pixels, and collection and use of information, please review Facebook’s privacy policy.  If you wish to opt out of the use of these cookies please visit the Digital Advertising Alliance’s consumer choice page at:  You can adjust your Facebook advertising settings from within your Facebook account and opt-out of advertisements from within the Facebook application.

We use Walkme Visions to analyze the activities of visitors to this Site to improve user experience and customer service. Walkme's authorized use of cookies and other tracking technologies enable it to have access to Personal Information of visitors to this Site.  Such access to and use of Personal Information by Walkme Visions is governed by Walkme Visions's Privacy Policy:

Because we track Service usage information through the use of cookies, web beacons and other tracking technologies, your selection of the “Do Not Track” option provided by your browser or mobile device may not have any effect on our collection of information via tracking technologies. The only way to completely “opt out” of the collection of any information through cookies, web beacons, or other tracking technologies is to actively manage the settings on your browser and mobile device to delete and disable cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies. However, getting a “Do Not Track” signal to work as you might want is difficult. Using browsers as an example, not all tracking technologies may be controlled by browsers; unique aspects of your browser might be recognizable even if you disable a tracking technology; not all settings will necessarily last or be effective; even if a setting is effective for one purpose, data still may be collected for another; and even if one website observes a “Do Not Track” signal, that website usually will not be able to control other websites.

This Site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect any Personal Information from children under 13 years of age through this Site.  If you think we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13 years of age for who you are the parent or guardian, please contact us at the notice address provided below.
