Information Collection and Use
Carina collects information on the Site and uses it in multiple ways, which are discussed in more detail below.
A. Personal Information.
Carina collects and uses Personal Information to run the Site and deliver the services you request.
Carina will collect other Personal Information that you voluntarily provide to us when you choose to register for and use some of the Carina services. This may include, but is not limited to, specific information regarding your care needs, medical conditions, health, lifestyle, diet, and other relevant Personal Information relating to care. We may also collect Personal Information that you provide voluntarily through responses to surveys and questionnaires.
B. Automatically Collected Information
We collect device information (such as domain name and IP address) from all visitors to the Site (“Automatically Collected Information”). This information is only used for internal purposes to help us improve your user experience, including generating statistical reports about the use of the Site.
We collect log files, either directly or through third party analytics providers such as Google Analytics, Facebook, and Hubspot. Information in log files may include, but is not limited to, internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the Site, track a customer’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. A profile is stored information detailing how individual customers use the Site.
As an example, Carina may use “cookies” and/or “web beacons” to collect non-personal information about your use of the Site or emails we send you. Cookies are small computer files that are placed on your computer’s hard drive that allow us to know how often someone visits a website and the activities they conduct while on that website. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Internet browser software generally can be set to reject all cookies. Most browsers offer instructions on how to reset the browser to reject cookies. If you reject our cookie, certain functions and conveniences of the Site may not work properly. Web beacons are tiny graphic image files embedded in a web page or email that provide a presence on the web page or email and send back to its home server information from the user’s browser. The information collected by cookies and web beacons allows us to statistically monitor how many people are using the Site or opening our emails.
We collect data about the location of the computer or device that you use to access the Site (“Location Data”) using IP address, GPS, cellular towers and other information from your mobile service provider, Bluetooth address, Wi-Fi access points and information made available by you or others that indicates the current or prior location of the user, such as geotag information in photographs. How we collect Location Data depends on how you access the Site. The Site may collect Location Data even when you are not actively using the Sites. If you do not want us to collect Location Data from your mobile device, please turn off the location settings.
C. Third Party Analytics Services
Personal Information of Children Under 13
Carina complies with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the FTC’s Rule interpreting COPPA (16 CFR § 512). This Site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age through this Site. If you think we have collected personally identifiable information from a child under 13 years of age for who you are the parent or guardian, please contact us at the notice address provided below.
Disclosure of Your Personal Information to Third Parties
Unless we receive your permission, Carina will not sell, rent, or share Personal Information to or with any third party not affiliated with or owned by Carina, with the following exceptions:
a. Provision of Services: Carina may share Personal Information with third parties that enable us to provide you with a product or service that you have requested from us; deliver marketing or promotional communications about the Site and Carina products or services; and for customer service.
c. Aggregate Information: Carina may provide to third parties information about you and other users that does not specifically identify you (“Aggregate Information”) or we may provide Automatically Collected Information. For example, we might inform third parties regarding the number of users of the Site and the services they utilize while on the Site. Depending on the circumstances of each instance, we may or may not charge third parties for this Aggregate Information. We also may not limit the third parties’ use of the Aggregate Information, except that we do require third parties to whom we disclose Aggregate Information to agree that they will not attempt to make this information personally identifiable by combining it with other databases.
d. As Required By Law: We will disclose Personal Information when required by law, or if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on us, (b) protect and defend our rights, (c) protect the rights, property, and other interests of our users or others, or (d) if necessary to avert a serious threat to a user’s or another’s health or safety.
Additional Uses of Your Personal Information
Improvements: We may use Personal Information and Aggregate Information for any lawful purpose, including, but not limited to, analyzing trends, managing and administering the Service, tracking users’ movements, to create new products or services, for research purposes, or to improve our business and the Site.
Administrative Notices: Carina reserves the right to send you specific administrative notices about your registration or subscription or to contact you if required by law. You may not opt-out of these kinds of communications.
Emails and Newsletters: During the registration process and at various times as you use the Site, you may have the option of receiving emails, text messages, or newsletters directly from Carina. You may elect to opt-in or opt-out of these communications by following the instructions in the correspondence or the Registered User profile for specifying your preference on receiving these communications or participating in these activities. In order to provide you with enhanced functionality and services, we may seek your permission to share your Personal Information with contractors and/or Third Party websites. You are not obligated to opt-in to such programs.
Carina maintains administrative, physical, and technical safeguards intended to protect the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of your Personal Information. For example, we maintain data in secure locations with access limited to authorized personnel and all of our employees are kept up-to-date on our security practices. Carina also abides by Washington State Office of the Chief Information Officer’s Security Information Technology Assets Standards for agencies. But, given the nature of the Internet and the fact that network security measures are not infallible, we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
When registering for access to a secure area of the Site, you will need to provide your email address and select a password. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. Also, remember to sign out of the registered Site and close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your Personal Information and correspondence when accessing your computer.
We retain information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which you provided the information, to comply with law legal obligations, to resolve disputes, to enforce agreements and similar essential purposes.

Correcting, Updating, Deleting Personal Information and Closing Your Account
You can always contact us in order to request that we change or delete your Personal Information if you believe the Personal Information on the Site is incorrect. We will review your request but please be aware that we may be restricted in our ability to change or delete your Personal Information.If you close your account, we will remove your name and other contact and identifiable information from our publicly viewable database. We will however, retain certain of your information for business purposes for analytics and metadata analysis and enforcing our rights and obligation under our agreements and where required by law.
